I can do a bit better 'cause as I wrote below, the guy in that video fucked my ex-wife a couple of times in the early 90s, as well as another mutual acquaintance. Also, I remember seeing her ads back in early swingers mags back in the 70s.
So let's say she was 40 in 1990 (but probably older), she's 73 now if she's still alive. Ya' don't see many people that old swinging, or having done it for that long. And we haven't seen anything them since Y2K.
As for navigation, swinging itself wasn't exactly "acceptable," but there were swingers mags as far back as the 70s, and other publications (like 'Screw') that had personal ads. By the 80s, there were swingers clubs in major cities (e.g. Plato's Retreat in NYC). Once you knew a person or two, they knew a person or two, and voila - network. And you kept everything quiet - very quiet. Even in the 90s, we rarely partied with locals, rarely hosted anyone in our home or even in our city. We typically partied in hotels halfway between. Oh -- "extended stay" hotels were best (particularly Resident Inn - A Marriot property). Lots of beds, sofas, fridges for alcohol, etc.
If you're referring to interracial as less than acceptable, it was nowhere near the niche it is today, but it wasn't rare. People just didn't respond to ads from people they weren't interested in. The only (small) problem that we noticed with partying with black men was the ex-wife's long time Black Master (a cop most of the time) typically showed up in black leather and chains and I'd have to go down to the desk and vouch for him before they'd let him come up.
